BLACK CANYON RESERVOIR

Black Canyon Reservoir is formed by Black Canyon Diversion Dam, a part of the Boise Project. Managed by the Bureau of Reclamation, this 1,100-acre reservoir offers 12 miles of shoreline. Boating and fishing are the major recreational activities at the reservoir, which is located northeast of Emmett in southwest Idaho. This site offers restrooms, boat ramps, camping (for reservations call 208-365-2682), parking, picnic tables, swimming, and accessible facilities for fishing.

There are four parks located at or near Black Canyon Dam:

  • Black Canyon Park (day use only, $5 per car daily fee)
  • Wild Rose Park (day use only)
  • Cobblestone Park (day use only)
  • Triangle Park (day-use and overnight camping, no water or power)

Season passes are available for $25 and can be renewed for $20. You must swipe your electronic season pass at the card reader each time you enter or exit the park. If you do not swipe your card when you exit the park, you will need to contact Reclamation staff to have it reset.

Triangle Park

Triangle Park, located just upstream of Black Canyon Park, is available for group overnight camping for a fee of $125.00. Water and power are not available at this park.

Gazebos at Black Canyon Park and Wild Rose Park can be rented for a daily non-refundable fee of $125.00. Only the gazebos can be rented, not the entire park.

The shelter at Cobblestone Park can be rented for a daily non-refundable fee of $125.00.

Montour Park, located in the Montour Wildlife Management Area, has overnight camping at $8.00 a day. There are 18 spaces which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Potable water and bathrooms are available.

Reservations

Generally, the parks are open from mid-May to mid-September. Call (208) 365-2682 or check the calendar for available dates. Reservations are payable by check, money order, and cash. Checks are to be made out to the Bureau of Reclamation. We do not accept debit or credit cards. Reservations are first-come, first serve. To make a reservation, download the form, print and mail it along with the non refundable $125.00 reservation fee to:

Park reservations may also be made directly at the Black Canyon Park office between the hours of 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
